Nike Salutes Kobe: You Showed Us…

The 34-year-old tore his Achilles tendon during a game against the Golden State Warriors, which resulted in surgery and the superstar getting sidelined for at least 9 months. However, because of the injury and his age, there’s doubt that we’ll ever see Kobe dominate the court again. But, that didn’t stop Nike from giving fans hope. Last week, Nike unveiled an epic black-and-white image that featured Kobe holding a basketball on their Facebook page. The image was accompanied with a checklist of Kobe’s accomplishments with each statement beginning with the words “You Showed Us.” It concludes with “Now, show us again,” a hopeful nod that the Black Mamba will return someday. College Kicks On Court: The Best of Championship Week

Championship week was filled with great games and great sneakers. The Miami Hurricanes and UNC Tarheels had one of the best sneaker matchups of the season when they collided in the ACC Championship Game.  UCLA, Louisville, Notre Dame, Kansas, and other adidas schools showcased a wide array of PEs, including school-theme makeups of the all-new adidas CrazyQuick. College Kicks On Court: Coaches Rock Sneakers on the Sidelines

The forever changing college basketball rankings changed again, but the growing popularity of the Nike LeBron X iD remains a constant. Players dug deep into their closets to bring heat out this week. In honor of Coaches vs. Cancer, coaches tucked the hard bottoms away in favor of sneakers. Illinois’ coach, John Groce may have taken the prize with a pair of Nike Dunks to match the Fightin’ Illini team colors. Michigan Head Coach John Beilein and North Carolina State coach Mark Gottfried both repped adidas with the X-Hale and X-Hale 2, respectively. College Kicks On Court: Shakeup in the Polls

Now that college football is over, all attention can be squarely placed on college basketball, and there could not have been a better week to make the transition. The past week saw both the Duke Blue Devils and Arizona Wildcats lost their first games, but they did not fall short with their sneakers on court. Both teams represented well, and the Oregon Ducks make their first major appearance in College Kicks on Court with Nike Hyperdunk and Nike Hypergamer Low “Oregon” PEs. Wichita State continues to bring heat on court, and so do Durand Scott and the Miami Hurricanes. Conference play is in full swing on the courts, and the players have turned up their sneaker game to a matching level of intensity.
