Published on April 29, 2013 by in Kool Kicks

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE One of the few times Nintendo and kicks (through Kobe Bryant) collide. Published on April 29, 2013 by in Fashion

Article written by: +Albert Costill Posted on: April 29, 2013 Tweet It’s been a tough month for Kobe Bryant, his fans, and the Lakers. The 34-year-old tore his Achilles tendon during a game against the Golden State Warriors, which resulted in surgery and the superstar getting sidelined for at least 9 months. However, because of the injury and his age, there’s doubt that we’ll ever see Kobe dominate the court again. But, that didn’t stop Nike from giving fans hope. Last week, Nike unveiled an epic black-and-white image that featured Kobe holding a basketball on their Facebook page. The image was accompanied with a checklist of Kobe’s accomplishments with each statement beginning with the words “You Showed Us.” It concludes with “Now, show us again,” a hopeful nod that the Black Mamba will return someday. There’s also an unofficial video

Young men across the nation have worked the majority of their lives for a chance to have their named called by the commissioner during the NFL Draft. Newly minted professional football players will place their signatures on everything from trading cards to contracts. One signature that is often absent, however, is a signature shoe. Of course, football is played in cleats and turf shoes as opposed to most other sports using sneakers, but in the age of trainer adaptations, it is still a wonder that more NFL players do not receive a sneaker of their own. With the 2013 NFL Draft beginning tomorrow, we at Nice Kicks wanted to take a look at some possible reasons why there has been a general lack of signature sneakers in the NFL, and why this trend may be changing. Bo Jackson was one

10 lines we would add to the “You Showed Us” Nike ad for Kobe Bryant

Published on April 22, 2013 by in Kool Kicks

Image: Nike (via NESN) On Sunday, Nike took out an ad in the Los Angeles Times thanking Kobe Bryant for all that he has done not only for Nike, but for the game of basketball.  The ad is a profile shot of Bryant (holding a Nike Elite Basketball, of course) with several lines of text that begin with “You showed us.”  Each line features a memorable moment (or ten) in Bryant’s career, highlighting that passion for the game of basketball that few can equal.  And to close it out is the inspirational – yet haunting – line, “Now, show us again.” We don’t know what Kobe Bryant we’re going to see when he makes his return to the NBA.  This is not a Derrick Rose situation where the kid is young enough that we don’t really know what he’s thinking
