For the past two seasons, the NBA 2K series has been a blessing for sneakerheads and gamers all across the world. In previous iterations of 2K – not to mention other NBA video game franchises – shoes have been often been the afterthought; more attention was being paid to details like “faces” and “jerseys” and “animations.” Starting with NBA 2K11, 2K Sports took full advantage of their new spokesman Michael Jordan and dropped the entire signature Air Jordan line for use in the game. With NBA 2K12, they brought back the Air Jordans, but also surprised the community by including the complete catalogues of Nike athletes LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant. To top it off, the game also updated the collection through downloadable content, adding special colorways that were released throughout the season, like the “Black History Month” and “Galaxy” packs.
With NBA 2K13 expected to raise the bar even higher (Penny? Barkley?), let us take a look back at the top shoes in NBA 2K12 that were released this past season.
