• Legendary hairstylist Vidal Sassoon died yesterday at the age of 84. Sassoon was famous for his cropped, angular cuts made popular back in the ’60s, most particularly for the short ‘do he gave Mia Farrow for her iconic role in Rosemary’s Baby.

The cause of his death is being reported as an “unknown illness.” Sassoon will always be remembered for his work, and how he helped shape the worlds of fashion and beauty. (LAT)

Chris Burch

Jamie Ardigo, an ex-human resource worker at Chris Burch‘s (Tory Burch‘s ex husband) investment firm, says he was fired from his post because he’s not gay. That’s right. Ardigo is claiming he was sacked because he’s straight. Apparently, Burch openly admitted he “only hired gay men because they were productive and he trusted them.” Ardigo is asking for $1 million, and of course, Burch’s lawyers deny the whole thing. “The defendants deny the allegations of discrimination and retaliation set forth in the complaint and are prepared to mount a vigorous defense.” It’s not everyday you hear of someone being fired for being straight! Are you buying Ardigo’s claims? (Page Six)

• So, those rumors about Tom Ford designing for HM are sadly, false. During his Tuesday night talk at the 92nd street Y with Fern Mallis, the designer said, “I keep reading that, and I find that amusing. I’ve never had a conversation with HM. I’m really happy doing what I do… What excites me now is the very best: the best stitching, the best fabric, the best quality. And unfortunately, or fortunately, that does tend to cost money.”  (Grazia)

• Fashion’s Night Out is expanding. This September, the event we all love (free booze) to hate (crowded stores) will be hosted in all 19 countries that publish Vogue. Mexico, Turkey, The Netherlands, and India are amongst the countries holding the event, and Brazil and Greece will hold the event twice in September. (WWD)

• Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at Kenzo’s fabulous campaign for Spring 2012, which has already made me feel self-conscious about my non-luminous complexion. Thanks, Ajak Deng, et al. (Beauty is Diverse)
